Piano lessons

Piano lessons in Stockholm

Piano tuition for children and adults – in person in Stockholm or online.

The piano is an instrument you can keep for life, and you can start at any age. The goal is not to play difficult things. The goal is to sit down at the piano and get out the music you hear inside you.

My name is Victoria Bobal. I work as a recording artist and teach both singing and piano in Stockholm. Alongside teaching I study the master's programme at the Royal College of Music.

Lessons are planned around you. Whether you want to read music, play by ear, write your own material or accompany your own singing, we build the lessons around that.

How a piano lesson works

We lay a foundation in how you sit and how your hand rests on the keys. It sounds like a detail, but it is the difference between playing comfortably for an hour and aching after ten minutes.

Then we work on technical exercises and on a piece you actually want to play. I weave theory into the practical work rather than setting it as separate homework – you learn what a chord is by using it.

Every lesson ends with something concrete to practise at home, scaled to how much time you realistically have.

What you will develop

  • Piano technique, hand position and relaxed posture
  • Reading music from scratch, at your own pace
  • Chords and chord playing – being able to back a song
  • Ear training, rhythm and timing
  • Music theory you can actually put to use
  • Accompanying your own singing, or someone else's
  • Repertoire you want to play, not only études

Who piano lessons are for

Adult beginners are the most common group. Many have wanted to learn for twenty years and assume the moment has passed. It has not.

Children and teenagers building a foundation, with lessons adapted to age and concentration.

Anyone who played as a child, stopped, and wants to come back. There is usually more left in the hands than people expect.

Singers who want to accompany themselves.

Piano for singers

Playing and singing at the same time is a skill of its own, and a hard one to build with two separate teachers. Here we can work on both in the same lesson: the voice, the accompaniment, and the way they lock together.

Where lessons take place

Piano lessons in person in Stockholm or online over video.

At my place in Stockholm

A lesson at the piano in a calm setting. The simplest option if you do not have a good instrument at home.

At your home in Stockholm

Requires a piano or a weighted keyboard at home. The advantage is that you learn on the instrument you then practise on.

Online anywhere

A video lesson with the camera on your hands and the keyboard. Works particularly well for reading music, theory and repertoire work.

The best thing about the lessons is that you feel safe and motivated. I have learned a lot about vocal technique, breathing and expression, and I always look forward to the next lesson.

I warmly recommend her to both beginners and experienced singers. She is a good teacher, engaged, and makes every lesson fun while you notice clear progress.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a piano at home?

To make progress between lessons you need access to a piano or keyboard. A digital piano with weighted keys works very well and takes little space. If you do not have one yet, I am happy to help you choose.

Can I start piano as an adult beginner?

Absolutely, and it is the most common group I teach. Adults learn differently from children, often faster on theory and structure, and we make use of that.

Do I need to read music?

No. We can start with no notation at all and build it up while you begin playing. If you would rather work by ear and with chords, that works too.

What ages do you teach piano to?

I teach children, teenagers and adults. For the youngest, lesson length is adapted to their concentration.

Do online piano lessons work?

Yes, with the camera positioned so I can see your hands and the keyboard. Reading music, theory and repertoire work translate very well to video.

Can I combine singing and piano?

Yes, and that is one of the advantages of having the same teacher for both. We can put the weight where you need it most, and work on playing and singing at once.

How do I book a piano lesson?

Send a message through the contact form describing your level and what you want to learn, and I will suggest a time.
